21st March World Poetry Day Beyond the Hive Fluorescent lights hover over potential discoveries In a bright crisp white lab Hypotheses are proved and others disproved Burning midnight oil to present it neatly To group of minds who’ve discovered much before Markers move frantically across whiteboard Ideas exchanged Concepts processed A race against time towards mastery Of all information uncovered from decades experiments Across big mahogany tables Seemingly miniscule decisions change lives many Decisions that trickle down people waiting counter For therapies keep them alive Extending life expectancies which in turn Ultimately provides just little bit more Each human with heartbeat Work relentlessly Separately but together create innovate Something activates positive What starts as one simple idea May manifest small step But next few steps Have become Someone else’s foundation create something novel Ultimately we must strive go venture beyond Go outside honeycomb visit fortify foundations fellow neighbors maintain healthy bustling hive Not survive thrive goes By Bijou Kim
