Tom and Jerry is an American animated media franchise series of comedy short films created in 1940 by William Hanna Joseph Barbera. Best known for its 161 theatrical Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer the centers on rivalry between titular characters a cat named mouse Jerry. Many shorts also feature several recurring characters.
