The Cedar Street Baptist Church is the seventh oldest African American church in the City of Richmond. In November 1867 twelve members of the Ebenezer Baptist Church came together to start a church. With the blessings of members of the “mother church” these members founded the Shiloh Baptist Mission to reach people who were freed or just recently emancipated by the Civil War who resided in the eastern section of Richmond.
